How adidas NMD’s ruined my sneaker collection

I hear you think; What is she talking about? I thought she loved NMD’s? And I do, I really really really do. But that’s exactly what the problem is here.

They ruined my sneaker collection.

All this started on February 8th 2016. When the first pair appeared on my doormat. The OG pair.. black with bits of blue and red. little did I know that this would lead to me writing this article. The following few weeks after that delivery were weeks filled with nothing but those NMD’s on my feet. day after day, week after week. Until my mister said maybe you should give them some rest before they’re all beaten up.

Then March 18th, The OG pair finally got some rest because there was a second pair added to the family. All white Primeknit from the monochrome pack; Fresh, clean, crispy and so pretty. So I wore these when the weather allowed me to. Then a month later another pair was welcomed to the club; The monochrome pack was completed with the black pair. Found these still sitting on the shelves when I was visiting Antwerp. Again; wearing them NON-FREAKING-STOP. I think at that point I could’ve already seen this post coming. But it got worse.

I did resist the NMD urge for almost 2 months. And then this happened. 2 pairs in one week.. because sure why not! Got to do a little shopping spree and adidas and picked out these Japan pack Primeknit NMD’s. And then because they knew I was sad about missing out on the Citysock they surprised me with a pair of these in the post a few days after. So far my NMD (hi)story.

5 pairs of NMD’s in my closet. And over 150 pairs of other sneakers in my closet, just sitting there. Waiting to be worn again. Hoping that I will pick them over the NMD’s. But those NMD’s are kicking their ass on so many levels. They’re comfy.. and the word comfy is understatement of the week. And sorry but I don’t f*ck with the mesh version because they’re simply not the same to me, haha (#sneakersnob). And they’re basic but still very special. They go with every outfit and they’re easy to put in your bag/suitcase when traveling.

I’m really hoping that the NMD’s won’t get the overkill treatment like the Stan Smith’s and the Superstars had. Which is ok.. and totally understandable from a brands point of view because if it’s popular why not release even more. But remember the Huarache hype? Right! Not ok.

Im typing this little love/hate-letter to the NMD while soaking up some morning sun sitting in my window sill. Contemplating which pair I’m gonna wear today. But you already know…

Sorry Jordans, Sorry Reebok Instapump Fury’s, Sorry air max’s, Sorry PUMA Creepers, Sorry ASICS Gel Lyte III and V & even sorry adidas Ultraboosts. I love you all.

And to keep up hype worthy (a.k.a Pokemon GO): I choose you — NMD’s

Keep an eye out on this page for feature NMD releases!
